To educate students about the concept of watershed management, its role in sustainable water resource development, and the importance of community participation in preserving natural water systems.
On 21st February 2025, the NSS unit of NCIT organized an informative session on Watershed Management to promote environmental awareness and encourage sustainable practices in water conservation.
The event featured a guest lecture by an environmental expert who explained the fundamentals of watershed management, its benefits in preventing soil erosion and maintaining groundwater levels, and its relevance in the context of climate change. Students were shown case studies of successful watershed projects in India, followed by an interactive discussion.
35 NSS volunteers participated in the session. They actively engaged in discussions, asked insightful questions, and shared ideas on how such practices could be implemented in their localities.
The session enhanced students’ understanding of eco-friendly water management practices and inspired them to become environmental ambassadors. Several students expressed interest in initiating community-based projects focused on rainwater harvesting and soil conservation.
NCIT remains dedicated to environmental education and sustainability. Through such awareness programs, the institution aims to equip students with the knowledge and motivation to address pressing environmental issues and contribute to long-term solutions.
