Visit to Vrid Ashram by NSS Volunteers

Fostering Empathy and Intergenerational Bonds

Objective

To promote the values of compassion, social responsibility, and intergenerational bonding by spending quality time with the elderly residents of the Vrid Ashram and understanding their challenges and needs.

Event Overview

The NSS unit of NCIT organized a visit to the Vrid Ashram in Muktsar. The visit aimed to sensitize students about the life and experiences of senior citizens living away from their families and to encourage empathy and support for the elderly community.

The volunteers interacted with the residents, listened to their stories, played games, sang songs, and distributed fruits and essential items. The environment was filled with warmth, smiles, and mutual respect. Many residents shared heartfelt moments, expressing their joy and appreciation for the students’ presence.

Participation

25 NSS student volunteers from different courses participated in the visit. They actively engaged with the residents, participated in group activities, and supported the caretakers in their daily routines during the visit.

Outcome

The visit left a lasting impression on the students, fostering a sense of social responsibility and empathy. It also highlighted the importance of emotional care for the elderly and the need for consistent community outreach programs. Students expressed their willingness to participate in similar future visits and extended support to the Ashram.

Conclusion

NCIT continues to emphasize value-based education through initiatives like these, nurturing not just academic excellence but also compassion and community service among its students.
